Love,
I’ve been trying for days
To write this poem about you
This one poem,
Made of words like pieces of my soul
Torn from the silky thread
To be laid down on the paper.
A poem to let you know
That there’s nothing to fear now
Because, I set my course
And all the roads lead in your direction.
I’m trying to write you this one poem
But… I’m failing.
I’m beat by my selfishness,
The greediness of the child in me
That would rather keep these sweets
Just to herself.
Because see, for me
Emotion translates into poetry
Every word that runs on paper fields
Takes the weight away from my dreams,
Takes it away from my breath
So I don’t breathe heavy.
And these days,
I like my dreams heavy
I like them weighing on me.
Heavy like the moments
Before I see you again
Choking me when I work,
When I sleep,
When I breathe…
This feeling that you awake in me is heavy
Weighing like my eyelashes
After months of insomnia
And I’d rather not share it
Because I like this new heavy
Pressing on me
